CANTON, Ohio (July 18, 2024) - Innis Maggiore, the nation’s leading positioning ad agency, today announced two Kent State University at Stark students were awarded the Innis Maggiore Endowed Scholarship for Communications for 2024.

Seth Bailey and Jeff Summers will each receive $1,750 to invest in their marketing and communications education.

Bailey, a Massillon resident, is a junior majoring in communications with a minor in history. Throughout his academic career, Bailey has developed a keen interest in journalism. He was recently able to explore journalism through an internship at the Massillon Athletic Center covering local news focused on sports and recreational events. After college, he hopes to build his online journalism career and enrich his community through writing.

“I’m incredibly grateful and know this communications scholarship will be an immense help in furthering my education,” said Bailey. “I pay for tuition out of pocket to avoid graduating with student debt, so this endowment will be extremely beneficial in alleviating some of these expenses.”

Summers, a junior residing in North Canton, is a marketing major at Kent State University at Stark. Returning to school after 20 years, he’s found the knowledge and experience to embark on a new career path at Hall of Fame City Comic Con, where he innovates, strategizes, and networks through the ever-changing and growing gaming industry. As a 2024 communications scholarship recipient, Summers has enjoyed going back to school, meeting insightful professors, and being challenged with a variety of real-life business projects.

“As a dedicated community leader, Innis Maggiore is committed to helping young professionals blossom in their careers,” said Mark Vandegrift, president of Innis Maggiore. “The Innis Maggiore Endowed Communications Scholarship allows Stark County students to pursue their passions and uncover new opportunities by reducing financial burdens. We are excited to provide this opportunity to Seth and Jeff, and we wish them the best as they continue in their studies.”

Innis Maggiore began the Endowed Scholarship for Communications in 2007. Since its inception, the scholarship has been awarded over 25 times. Applicants for the communications scholarship, which is awarded annually, must be a full-time student attending Kent State University at Stark and reside in Stark County. Students must also be majoring in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or advertising and demonstrate financial need.
