Kent State Student Wins $1,500 Innis Maggiore Scholarship

CANTON, Ohio (Jan. 21, 2008) - Rebekah Smith, a senior at Kent State University, has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship from Innis Maggiore, a Canton-based advertising and public relations firm.

Each year, Innis Maggiore awards the scholarship to a student pursuing a marketing communications-related career as part of the American Advertising Federation's Education Fund. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be Ohio residents who are full-time students at an Ohio university or college with a 3.0 accumulative grade point average. The scholarship is available to second semester sophomores, juniors or seniors graduating in Spring 2008 or later. For more information, visit www.aafcleveland.com.

Smith, a North Canton resident, is majoring in public relations at Kent State University's main campus. She currently interns with the corporate communications department of Diebold Corp. in North Canton and she aspires to work in healthcare or corporate communications upon graduation.

In addition to its AAF scholarship, Innis Maggiore also offers the Innis Maggiore Endowed Scholarship for Communications. The annual scholarship is available to full-time Kent State Stark students who reside in Stark County and major in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or advertising.
