Rainbow Names Innis Maggiore Group for Public Relations

CANFIELD, Ohio (February 12, 1999) - Rainbow Rentals, Inc. (NASDAQ: RBOW) today announced that it has named Innis Maggiore Group, an agency based in Canton, Ohio, as its public relations agency of record.

Innis Maggiore will provide a range of public relations and investor relations services for Rainbow. Terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

"Our relationship with Innis Maggiore will help us communicate our growth strategy more effectively and efficiently," said Wayland J. Russell, Rainbow's chairman and chief executive officer. "Since our initial public offering in 1998, communications has become a higher priority at Rainbow. We're looking forward to telling our story more broadly in the upcoming months."

Innis Maggiore Group, based in Canton, Ohio, is a regional public relations and advertising agency. Major clients include Republic Engineered Steels, Camelot Music, Square Two Golf, Aultman Health Foundation, Oasis Floral Products, Preferred Rubber Compounding, Crown Divisions, Akrochem Corp. and Alpha Enterprises.

Rainbow, headquartered in Canfield, Ohio, operates 71 rental-purchase stores in eight states -- Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Tennessee. The company employs approximately 700 associates and reported revenues of $63.5 million in 1998.
